Lazy Sunday

Well...I wanted to have this blogging thing all planned out and systematically talk about certain topics, one-by-one, but I think just talking about my day and eventually talking about things is going to be my new course of action. We'll see how well that goes and how long it lasts...

So today(since I didn't have to work)...I got up and got some breakfast, I went to church, cleaned a little, watched NCAA basketball, watched Tiger Woods show why he's the greatest athlete of all-time, cowered from the weather, and basically just chilled.

Breakfast - Nothing too out of the ordinary. Just a coffee and muffin from Starbucks. Then I was off to Church.

Church - I like to go to church, but I don't go very regularly. For example, this is the first time I've been in probably 2 or 3 months. However, that's not ENTIRELY my fault. You see, I'm a retail store manager (not by choice) and my new District Manager has mandated that since the economy is down that all store managers in our district must work 3 of 4 weekends per month. This is part of the reason my girlfriend and I broke up. I used to have to work every other weekend, so we only saw each other, generally, every other weekend. However, as it stands now, if we were still together, it would only be for 2 days per month. There's a lot more to it than that, but that's one small reason. At any rate, I haven't always had the time to go to church. It was nice to go one more time here, before I go back to Indiana though. I really felt like God spoke to me today, and that's a great feeling. The sermon was about not looking at life through our perspective, but to look at things through God's eyes. Once I was able to relate this to my current situation, I realized that this is what God wants, and as much as I don't want things to go down like this, he has a plan... It's God's world, and I'm just living in it...

Cleaning - I needed to pay some bills and get some stuff in the mail. I actually bought my niece an Easter card awhile back, and I wrote in the card and sent it today. I also bought one for my ex-girlfriend. I still wrote in it and sent it today too. It's just a card wishing her a happy easter. I made sure to let her know that I hope she can give her life up to God, especially during this Easter season, and he'll help us both to see what he really wants for us in our lives. I started just tidying up my apartment so I can move in about 10 days or so. I didn't get very far though, because I'm still coming to terms that I am leaving, but at least my apartment is clean! :) I'm not planning on starting to pack until AFTER my last day of work on April 8.

Basketball - As you read in the first post I love sports, especially college basketball. Therefore, I've been all about the NCAA tournament. My bracket sucks. I had Wake Forest and Pitt in the final game. Therefore, I didn't win it all this year! Oh well, I've won the last 4 years in my leagues, so I guess just for one year it's ok for someone else to win. I'm glad UNC won, I'm pulling for them and Michigan State (Big Ten!)

Golf - Tiger is a man among boys. He hit a clutch putt to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bayhill Golf Club (Orlando, FL) on the 18th hole to win by one. He just had ACL surgery, and this is just his 2nd real tournament back (he played in the Accenture Match Play Championship, but it's match play instead of stroke play). He's absolutely amazing, and a great person to boot. I just wish I had a 1oth of his talent and tenacity.

Chill - I've just been hanging out and thinking about things, and I decided to make another post. It just feels good to write, even if I am writing to myself.

Weather - We had some pretty bad storms for an hour or so this evening. I went outside to watch it from the porch. It was actually pretty cool, just severe T-storms and rain, but when I was outside I saw the most amazing rainbow EVER. I took a picture from my BlackBerry, and I never take pictures. It was pretty amazing! The storm passed after about 30-60 minutes though.

Ex-girlfriend - She drove back to NY from Charelston, SC where she was this weekend. I called her a few times to take her mind off the 13 hour drive. I could tell she didn't really want to talk to me. She says I was a great boyfriend and it was all her and all that jazz, but I think she is clearly as uncomfortable with this breakup as I am, but we want to deal with it in different ways. I want to talk to her, and she wants to not think about it. I told her I wouldn't call anymore unless I needed her. I'm not sure that's what she really wanted to hear, but I'm going to give her the space she seems to want, and hopefully she will miss me. If not, well I guess at least she's getting what she wanted and can hopefully be happy.

As you can tell, I am a little hung up on this whole breakup thing. It's only been 7 days and we were together for a long time. I'm trying to turn off the love switch, but it's hard, because I do still love her. However, I'm getting closer to doing it because I can tell she isn't in love with me anymore. I know she still loves me for who I am, but she's not in love with me. Once I can get past that realization, I think things will start to get a little better for me.

I have to work at 1pm tomorrow, so I am going to hang out and catch up on some much needed sleep. It's been a long week to say the least.

I don't know if I'll keep up with posts everyday, but I'll do my best to post as often as possible...

I'll leave you with this...My high school principal used to make the morning announcements over the PA system and he would always end with "Make it a great day....or not....the choice is yours!" Therefore, I'm going to do my best to make everyday a great day! I hope you do too!

Day 1

Hello. I'm not sure how many people, if anyone, is going to read this blog. I decided to start blogging mainly for the therapeutic ability writing can have on my life. I love to write, and I'm not too good at sharing my feelings in other ways. Don't get me wrong though...I wear my heart on my sleeve. I just don't really like to talk about some of the more intimate things in my life, unless I've forged a strong relationship with someone and they somehow broke through my invisible wall of protection.

Now that you know why I am writing I guess I should tell you a little bit about myself. I'm 26 years old. My parents are divorced, with significant others. Someday we'll get into that. I have an older sister, who has a 4 and a half year old daughter, my niece, and a younger brother, who is my best friend in the entire world. My sister is 28, my brother is almost 24.

I am a former athlete, but I guess once an athlete always an athlete right? I played many sports as a kid...baseball, basketball, swimming, soccer, etc. I was a state champion in swimming. I also swam in college. My swimming life is also something I'll talk about more down the line in other posts.

I had a girlfriend for about 3.5 years. We broke up a week ago. My heart is still broken. I hope to talk about this more in subsequent posts.

I love the company I work for, but hate my job. Sound familiar to anyone? I live on the East Coast, but I'm from the Midwest. I resigned from my job last Wednesday. My last day of work is April 8. I am moving home. Reasons for that will be in near future posts.

I have a bachelor's degree in political science. I have a master's degree in sports marketing and management. I love the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals. Baseball is my true passion. I don't know why, but I just love baseball. I'm from Indiana, so I love the Hoosiers, especially in basketball. I pretty much live for sports. I am one of the most competitive people ever. I am confident in myself, in all aspects of life. Some used to think I was cocky. Maybe I was, but now that I am getting a little older I have been able to control it better. I keep my confidence to myself more, but still have the same confidence. I try to keep my swagger, but also keep it on the DL. I love to win. I hate to lose.

That's part of the reason I have decided to start blogging, because I have been losing a lot lately, and I think this can be a good way for me to let out my feelings in a constructive manner. I don't want to be depressed, and I certainly don't want to turn to drugs and alcohol like some. I'm not passing judgement if you do or have, but that's just not my style.

I love God, and I know he had put these trials in my path for a reason, I'm just searching for understanding.

I titled this post Day 1, but in all reality it should be the things that lead up to Day 1. I'm starting a new chapter in my life, and I'm going to take you along for the ride...that is if there is a you. Hell...maybe no one reads this. That's ok. I need this for me. HOWEVER, if you do read this, I also need help and advice. I want to hear your thoughts and comments. Please let me know what you think. Be brutally honest. I think that's what I need the most. I am tired of hearing, it's ok...it's not your fault...things will get better with time, etc etc etc.

Well, I am going to have to think about what my next post is going to be for now. I have to think about what's most important to write about right now. Here's some of the topics to come:

* Resigning from work.
* Moving back to Indiana.
* Breaking up with my girlfriend.
* Finding a new job.
* My parents.
* My siblings (and my niece).
* Swimming (and other sports).

I hope you are intrigued a bit. I have an interesting life...to say the least. It's not glamorous, but it is interesting. Again, let me know what you think.

Have a great day!
